The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and passionate Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioner to join Castell Care and Support, based in Ewloe, Flintshire. You’ll be part of a friendly, dedicated, and forward-thinking team committed to delivering truly person-centred care that makes a real difference in people’s lives.

In this role, you will lead the development, delivery, and evaluation of Positive Behaviour Support strategies across our supported living services for adults and young people with autism, learning disabilities, and/or complex behavioural needs. You’ll work closely with service teams across North Wales and Ceredigion – coaching staff, modelling best practice, and embedding PBS principles into daily life.

Your focus will be on improving quality of life, reducing behaviours of concern, supporting communication development, and embedding active support models. You’ll also champion restraint reduction practices in line with BILD PBS Standards, ensuring our services meet the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) requirements.

This role involves travel across North Wales and Aberystwyth, so a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential.

  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • BUPA Cash Plan
  • A supportive, inclusive culture where staff genuinely enjoy what they do

About You

You will be:

  • Qualified to PBS Level 4 (BTEC) or equivalent, with at least 18 months’ experience supporting individuals with complex needs
  • Experienced in conducting Functional Behaviour Assessments and developing effective, person-centred PBS plans
  • Skilled at embedding active support models and promoting alternative communication methods (e.g. PECS, Makaton, AAC systems)
  • Confident in delivering training, coaching, and mentoring to staff, families, and professionals
  • Committed to reducing restrictive practices through proactive, evidence-based approaches
  • Knowledgeable about relevant legal frameworks, including the Mental Capacity Act 2005
